Terraria Review

Terraria is a 2D sandbox developed by Re-Logic. It was initially released on PC in 2011, and now you can download Terraria on Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and many more.

Gameplay: Survival Adventure

Terraria is often compared to Minecraft in terms of gameplay. In fact, these two games have both significant similarities and major differences. First of all, Terraria does offer to craft and building just like Minecraft, but the systems are pretty different. Another important distinction is that Terraria focuses on the survival element, as there are dangerous enemies to fight with. Terraria also does a better job in forcing the player to explore the world: while in Minecraft you mostly dig mines in your search for valuable resources, in Terraria you have to explore caves and dungeons reckon with monsters of different kinds.

Graphics: With Its Style

Terraria utilizes an interesting style: the 2D world is made of various pixel blocks, making it look a bit similar to Minecraft, yet it still feels pretty unique. It looks like many old 2D games, except for it is fresh and detailed enough to look modern. The resolutions are high, the world is filled with tons of various objects and creatures, and the animations are pretty smooth, no matter what platform you are using.

Controls: Better Played On PC

The controls of the mobile version are good, yet not perfect. It is not as convenient to play Terraria on Android or iOS, as the inventory management, crafting, and combat elements are not perfectly adapted to touch controls. It is still possible to enjoy the game on mobile devices, but for a better experience, we recommend trying Terraria on desktops or consoles.

Conclusion

Terraria is a great 2D game for players of all ages. Smaller gamers would find joy in building and implementing their creativity to craft items or create various constructions, while the more experienced ones will enjoy the surviving. In order to get maximum excitement, you should better play Terraria with friends in co-op, as communication and working together is much more fun than exploring the realms on your own.
