Fortnite Review
Fortnite is a free to play battle royale game developed by Epic Games. It was initially released on PC in 2017, and now you can download Fortnite on most platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, Android, and iOS.
Gameplay: Traditional Yet Fresh
Fortnite is a traditional battle royale game in terms of gameplay: one hundred players get deployed on a vast island, where they have to find weapons and gear and fight other players until there is only one survivalist left. However, the developers of Fortnite have managed their game to feel fresh. First of all, there is this unique style of the game, and we are not speaking of visuals right now. The whole game is filled with the unserious and unrealistic mood they have set, and this brings some new gameplay experience: you do not hide in grass in Fortnite, you encounter other players and fight them. Second of all is the building mechanics, which allow players to collect resources and use them in creating their constructions. Those are not only used to reach some distant spots, but also are an important part of each fight, as players are building and shooting simultaneously.
Graphics: Cartoony
Fortnite utilizes an attractive cartoony visual style, which only underlines the light mood of the game. Despite being cartoony, the graphics look modern and detailed enough to make Fortnite feel like a new and fresh game. The sounds are also great, and the compatibility is perfect, as the game is running with almost the same settings on mobile and PC, there is even an option to cross-play between platforms, meaning it is the same game running properly on mobile.
Controls: Learn to Build
The controls of Fortnite are pretty typical for a third person view shooter, except for the building mechanics. In case you ever played Minecraft, it would be easy for you to learn the building. The controls are pretty intuitive, but require some time for you to get used to them.
Conclusion
Fortnite is a great game, one of the most popular games on the market right now, and such things do not happen without reasons. It is a very addictive and competitive game with a light mood, meaning it perfectly suits players of all ages, and it is free to play. There are indeed microtransactions, but they do not give paying players any sort of advantage: all purchases available are for cosmetic items.
